The participation of these two outstanding ensembles from Switzerland was part of the programme of Intrasonus UK, which aims to experiment and perform contemporary music and to offer a possibility for intercultural exchange between different countries and to foster local intercultural dialogue. With his three-month project “Sound Routes II” involving diverse events such as workshops, workshop performances and concerts, the composer Roberto Rusconi intended to create an educational outreach and exchanges with different ranges of audiences from students and members of the contemporary classical music community to a much broader public. The project culminated with the highly professional concerts of Galatea Quartet in November and Ensemble Contrechamps in December including Swiss composers Ernst Bloch, Beat Furrer and Heinz Holliger. The concerts and educational pre-concert performances were of incredible quality, highly effective and much praised.
