The Swiss Cultural Fund UK marked its presence at the Edinburgh International Festival this year by supporting Ballett Zürich, which presented a captivating double bill featuring works by its Artistic Director Christian Spuck and multi-award-winning British choreographer Wayne McGregor. McGregor’s new work Kairos is a seamless marriage of design and structure set to Max Richter’s celebrated reimagining of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, and features striking designs by leading British artist Idris Khan. In Sonett, Christian Spuck plunges into the mysterious world of William Shakespeare’s late sonnets weaving together music, dance and language with his customary theatrical flair and passion. The show was seen by nearly 3700 festival-goers and received a five-star rating from The Guardian, which commented:

“A beautiful courtliness exhales from this luminous double bill (…) It’s a short, sharp intake of breath of a piece, thrillingly alive in its dark love undertones”.
