The Swiss Ambassador’s Award Concert Series 2016 saw the NEXUS Reed Quintet perform at Wigmore Hall in London, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh and the Duncairn Centre for Culture and Arts as part of the Belfast International Arts Festival. The Quintet, founded in 2010 and comprising Sandro Blank (saxophone), Nicola Katz (bass clarinet), Marita Kohler (oboe), Annatina Kull (clarinet) and Philipp Hösli (bassoon) delighted audiences with their unique programming, fresh and in-depth interpreta¬tion, precise interaction and youthful enthusiasm. The evening presented a few surprises with Swiss composer Stefan Wirth’s UK première “Night Snow with Wolves” and Marita Kohler’s newly created arrangements of Elgar’s Enigma Variations.
